Our Core beliefs
And values

What We Believe

The Word of God guides our beliefs and is central to everything we do at New Life Community Church. We describe our specific beliefs and how we see things below:

1.The Scriptures

The Word of God

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testament as verbally inspired by God, His revelation to man, inerrant in the original writings, and therefore the final and supreme authority in faith and life (Jn 16:12, 13; II Tim 3:16, 17; II Ptr 1:20, 21).

The trinity

We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19; Mk 12:29; Jn 1:14; Acts 5: 3, 4; II Cor 13:14; Heb 1:1-3).

2.The Godhead

3.The Person and Work of Christ

Our Lord and Savior

a. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man (Jn 1:1, 2, 14; Lk 1:35).

b. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice (Rom 3:24, 25; I Ptr 2:24; Eph 1:7; I Ptr 1:3-5; 18, 19; II Cor 5:21).

c. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ arose bodily from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and in His present life there He is fulfilling His high priestly ministry of intercession and advocacy (I Cor 15:12-19; Acts 1:9, 10; Heb 9:24, 7:25; Rom 8:34; I Jn 2:1, 2).

Our Advocate

a. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment (Jn 16:8-11).

b. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the supernatural agent in regeneration, in baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, and in dwelling and sealing them (Jn 3:6; I Cor 6:19; 12:12-14; Eph 1:13, 14; 4:30).

c. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Divine Teacher who guides believers into all truth and that it is the privilege and the duty of all the saved to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Jn 16:13; Eph 5:18).

4.The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit

5. The Total Depravity of Man

Our fallen nature

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and, that man is totally depraved, and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Gen 1:26, 27; Rom 3:22, 23; 5:12; Eph 2:1-3, 12).

Our Eternal Life

We believe that salvation is the gift of God, brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (Eph 2:8-10; Jn 1:12; Eph 1:7; I Ptr 1:18, 19).

6. Salvation

7. The Church

The Body of Christ

We believe that the church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born again persons of this present age; that it began at Pentecost and is completely distinct from Israel (Eph 1:22, 23; 5:25-27; Acts 2:42-47; I Cor 12:12-27; Rom 12:5); and that its business is to complete itself through the winning of lost souls to Christ (Eph 4:11-16).

Baptism & Communion

We believe that Christians are commanded to observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper; and that baptism has no saving merit, but after one believes and is saved, baptism is the next step to show the world that the believer is now identified with Christ; that New Life Community Church shall practice baptism by immersion; that whereas baptism is observed once, and is a sign of identification and a testimony to newness of life, the Lord’s Supper is Commemorative and is to be observed often as a memorial to the broken body and shed blood of our Lord Jesus Christ till He come (Mt 28:10; I Cor 11:23-26).

8. The Ordinances

9. Separation

salt & light

We believe that we are called to be a separated people and to live after the Spirit that we may not fulfill the desires of the flesh. The fleshly nature is ever present within us and must be kept in constant subjection to the Holy Spirit, lest it manifest its presence to dishonor God (Rom 8:12, 13; 12:1, 2; 13:14; Gal 5:16-25; II Cor 6:14-18). The world system and the things of this system are not to be loved by us but “…denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age.” (I Cor 7:31; Titus 2:11-15; Jas 4:4; I Jn 2:15-17).

The return of christ

We believe in the personal, imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ (I Thess 4:13-18; I Cor 15:51-54; Titus 2:11-14).

10. The Blessed Hope

11. The Eternal State

eternity

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved unto eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (Mt 25:46; Jn 5:28, 29; 11:25, 26; Rev 20:5-15).

The enemy

We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is the god of this age, the adversary of Christ and His church, and that his destiny is eternal punishment (Isa 14:12-17; Ezk 28:11-19; Col 2:15; Rev 20:2, 3, 10).

12. The Personality of Satan

13. Human Sexuality

In his image

We believe that God commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged in outside of a marriage between man and woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex (Gen 2:24; Gen 19:5, 13; Gen 26: 8, 9; Lev 18:1-30; Rom 1:26-29; I Cor 5:1; I Cor 6:9; I Thess 4:1-8; Heb 13:4).

so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
